The Salvo Precision SCX RSAR999 is part of the first generation of gas blowback rifles released by Salvo Precision, representing the SCX GBB platform updated to the improved Gen 2 system. Designed as a fully ambidextrous rifle with a short-stroked operating system, this model focuses on enhanced durability, reliability, and overall performance compared to earlier versions.
The SCX platform draws inspiration from modern modular rifle systems used by specialized units around the world. Its adaptable design allows quick configuration changes and supports a versatile operating concept similar to its real-world counterpart. This particular model represents the Rattler LT configuration, a compact PDW style variant with a 6.75 inch Gen 3 handguard and shortened outer barrel, while retaining full ambidextrous controls for convenient operation from either hand.
Built with a durable aluminium exterior and steel-reinforced internal components, the SCX platform offers a strong yet lightweight construction. Internally, the rifle is based on the well known Tokyo Marui MWS ZET GBB system, with reinforced components designed to maintain reliability while remaining largely compatible with many Marui-spec MWS aftermarket parts. This allows users to perform maintenance and customization using widely available upgrade components.
The Rattler LT variant features a Gen 3 M-LOK handguard with lightening cuts to reduce weight while maintaining mounting space for accessories. The upper receiver includes a full length Picatinny rail for optics, while the front of the rifle is equipped with a three-prong Taper-Lok flash hider compatible with suppressor mounts and standard 14 mm CCW muzzle devices.
The receiver includes a fully ambidextrous control layout, allowing operation of the fire selector, bolt release, magazine release, and charging handle from either side. A flared magazine well improves reloads and the rear of the receiver includes QD sling mounting points. The rifle also features a Picatinny stock interface, allowing compatibility with various stock options. Salvo Precision includes a folding minimalist stock with a rubberized buttpad and integrated ambidextrous QD sling mount, offering both comfort and compact storage when folded.
At the core of the rifle is the short-stroke SCX bolt system, which uses a guided track with springs and rollers to provide a fast and smooth bolt cycle. This compact system allows the use of Picatinny mounted stocks while still delivering a satisfying recoil impulse. The rifle also features an integrated hop-up base with the outer barrel, reducing movement between the hop unit and inner barrel for improved shot consistency. An external adjustment dial allows easy hop-up tuning with clear tactile feedback.
The Gen 2 update introduces several improvements based on user feedback. These include a reciprocating spring buffer pad to improve recoil absorption and bolt travel, a revised barrel clamp design to eliminate barrel wobble, and a redesigned hop-up mounting structure for better stability. This enhanced version also includes a stainless steel bolt, improving both durability and recoil feel.
